Hey guys! We are super excited about starting our blog. We pondered what to write about for a bit and decided, what better thing to write about than how we got started??
Back in September of 2016, our President, Lindsey, was helping another rescue where she was going to college in PA. Unfortunately the rescue was shutting its doors and several cats needed to be moved ASAP. Fast forward a little and the rescue that stepped up to help was no longer able to help. So, while away at college, Lindsey decided to start Mabel’s to help as many of the babies find homes as she could.
Now to answer some questions about how we got our name!
MOAR was named after a sweet little kitten that unfortunately passed away shortly before MOAR started. Truth be told, Lindsey let someone else name the rescue because she just couldn’t decide. We love that Mabel’s spirit lives on through the countless babies we rescue.
MOAR is currently 100% foster home based, although our goal is to one day have a facility to help more orphaned angels. We do love being 100% foster home based though as the animals blossom when in safe and loving environments. In 2020 alone, we fostered and adopted out 339 animals.
Although 2020 was a rough year, it was our best year yet. We discovered the absolute joy of taking on the cases many rescues won’t touch. We have taken in 3 megaesophagus kittens, 1 Pectus Excavatum kitten, 3 hospice kitties, as well as a few kittens in need of amputation/eye removals. Don’t tell the others, but the special guys are our favorites 🤫
Well, I guess that’s enough for today!
